(( I prefer to keep Ketsuchi's background and history vague to encourage other characters to learn about him through RP. Information contained here is what I would consider "public knowledge" or basic background for the character. ))ChildhoodKetsuchi was born in the Sagolii Desert. At the age of five, a conflict between the Amalj'aa and his tribe resulted in him and his younger brother being separated from the rest of his tribe. They were saved by a wandering merchant who took in the young Seekers and raised them as his own. Ketsuchi did not adapt well to his new life in Ul'Dah, often getting into fights and causing conflicts with other children. As he grew, he began to visit the Gladiator's guild where he would observe the occasional match.Teenage YearsKetsuchi managed to find someone willing to train him with martial weapons, much to his adoptive father's disapproval. His younger brother had taken up the trade of the man who had saved them, and the elderly man had hoped Ketsuchi would do the same. Alas, it wasn't meant to be, and Ketsuchi eventually found himself taking part in the battles at the bloodsands, though with middling success. Still younger and smaller than most of his opponents, victories were rare, though he showed great promise in combat. As he approached the end of his teens, the Seeker began to take on mercenary work and moved away from the fights in the bloodsands. He eventually received a high profile job protecting the daughter of a wealthy merchant within the city. The young woman died some time after he took the position, with Ketsuchi initially being blamed for the events that led to her death. The Flames have since rescinded the wanted status for Ketsuchi, though little is known why the change of heart came to pass.Early 20sKetsuchi left Ul'Dah for Ishgard, taking part in the tail end of the Dragonsong War as a mercenary. While not much is known about his time there, he gathered a reputation as a merciless fighter who often was the only combatant to return from bloody skirmishes. Eventually it was found that he would fight indiscriminately, taking on both enemy and ally alike, earning him a wanted status within the Holy See that stands to this day. After leaving Ishgard Ketsuchi turned to wetwork, taking on assassination jobs through the "friends" he had in the black market. He only took jobs involving violence and murder, often ones that were undesired by other people in his position. This earned him the moniker "The Demon" due to his brutal style of fighting which often left opponents divided into several pieces on their demise. The Seeker eventually founded "The Raven's Nest", along with Y'ashe Bajhiri, in order to get their own foothold in the shadier side of the city states.Raven's NestThe group started out small, focusing their efforts within Gridania. They grew their numbers, as well as their influence, and in time expanded their network to Limsa, Ul'Dah, and eventually Kugane. Y'ashe led the information focused branch while Ketsuchi spearheaded the enforcement section of the group. The pair recruited allies and crushed enemies, resulting in an expansive network of informants that allowed them to have their hands in a bit of everything. Eventually, information surrounding Raven's Nest began to slow and fizzle out entirely. The last bits of information indicated that Y'ashe had died, though the circumstances were never conclusive. In time, the group faded into obscurity.
The Watcher: Ketsuchi has an extensive web of eyes and ears within the city-states. Long past getting his own hands dirty (unless something is that interesting/important to him), he spends most of his days listening to conversations on linkpearls in order to keep tabs on interesting information. Blackmail is his expertise these days. It is possible to draw him out should an individual seem useful to him, or should something require a more personal touch.
Wanted Man: Ketsuchi is still wanted in Ishgard due to his savage behavior at the tail end of the Dragonsong War. His spies and contacts keep him protected, but every network has blind spots and his is no exception. Occasionally those seeking his head are able to find him, though it is less common these days.
Veiled Kindness: Don't count on this one always working out. Ketsuchi has been known to help others who find themselves in difficult circumstances beyond their own control. This has extended to refugees, children, and business owners that have been exploited by criminal organizations (to name a few examples). Hypocritical of him? Of course, but something in the Seeker still lends a hand to those in need when it suits him.
Black Market: Ketsuchi still holds strong ties within the underbelly of the city-states, though he is intent on minimizing the amount of people who know about it. He doesn’t work face-to-face in the business as much any longer, but he isn’t above making a deal himself if his face would bring value/pressure to the table.
Puppetmaster: Ketsuchi has grown adept at manipulating people, especially since most of his work is done behind the scenes now. Subterfuge has become a strong tool in his belt, and his ability to get under people's skin tends to make them fall directly into any traps he may have laid out for them.
Mentor/Teacher: On the opposite side of the coin, those who gain Ketsuchi’s interest in a less-than-reputable line of work may eventually earn his mentorship. With plenty of experience and contacts in his back pocket, he is willing to give people the chance to progress themselves. Failure comes at a steep rate of return for his time, though. To say his methods are “devious and dangerous” would likely be an understatement. However, perseverance tends to lead to success, and the backing of a dangerous individual.
Hello! Thanks for reading this far. Here are some small notes about interacting with me and setting up RP:
- Open to more or less any RP.
- Available for both in-game or Discord RP.
- Ketsuchi is meant to be an antagonist! Friendly interactions are unlikely until he gets to know someone.
- I do prefer my RP partners be over the age of 21. This is just a personal preference.
- I have no problem visiting other servers for RP!
- RL comes first. This applies to both me and my RP partner(s).
- Despite the antagonistic nature of my character, I am very approachable and am willing to work with people to build a story and RP that will be enjoyable for all parties involved.
- I do ask for my RP partners to be willing to communicate with me. Something come up last second? No worries, just let me know. Something in the RP not working out the way you wanted? Talk to me about it. I value communication highly and have no problems conversing about this or that outside of RP.
- Goes without saying, but please keep IC and OOC separate. Just because my character may be antagonistic toward yours does not mean I dislike you, the player behind the character.
- I also play XIV quite a lot, so if you are interested in doing roulettes or other content in game please let me know. The likelihood is that I am looking for things to fill my time anyway, and I enjoy helping others out.
Contact: In-game or via discord are the best ways to contact me - I do not mind discord messages at all. I tend to afk in game a lot, so I apologize if I do not get back to you right away via that method.
